FCCN unit integrates national registry of scientific funding in international infrastructure.

Integration into Fundstat is carried out from the national registry. SciPROJ, incluído no programa PTCRIS – the FCCN Unit initiative that works towards an integrated and coherent scientific and innovation ecosystem, in which information about scientific activity flows between the various systems.

The FCCN Unit has begun the process of integrating the national registry of funding allocated to R&D and Innovation activities in Portugal into Fundstat. This data infrastructure is part of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and brings together information from 22 databases from various countries, including Australia, Austria, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, the United States and the European Commission.

Fundstat is a platform that enables international analysis and comparison of public funding for R&D and innovation projects, using artificial intelligence tools such as natural language processing. In addition to providing accurate information and indicators on funding, this infrastructure aims to analyze the direction of public funding and identify emerging areas in science and technology.

The collaboration will enable the inclusion of information about Portugal in future studies conducted by the OECD and will provide information on the direction of funding in relevant areas, such as the Green Transition and the Sustainable Development Goals.

The role of PTCRIS

This integration is carried out from the national register of S&T financing, developed within the scope of the program PTCRIS – a SciPROJ. Esta plataforma agrega dados do financiamento nacional (FCT, QREN, Portugal 2020 e ANI) e internacional (União Europeia), que sustenta as atividades científicas e tecnológicas em Portugal.

THE SciPROJ It falls within the objectives of PTCRIS, que se foca no desenvolvimento de um quadro normativo de interoperabilidade e infraestruturas de suporte tendo em vista a integração dos sistemas de gestão científica das várias entidades do ecossistema acadêmico-científico, em estreito alinhamento com o princípio “Registar uma vez, reutilizar várias”. Essas iniciativas estão alinhadas com a política de dados abertos da FCT e do Ministério da Ciência, Tecnologia e Ensino Superior (MCTES).
