Tiago Guedes, Coordinator of the Scientific Information Management Unit at Universidade Nova de Lisboa, shares his expectations for the 2023 edition of the Conference.

What do FCCN Days mean to me?

As jornadas FCCN são o ponto de encontro anual entre as equipas das instituições de ensino superior que lidam com a gestão de informação científica e os repositórios institucionais da rede Repositórios Científicos de Acesso Aberto de Portugal (RCAAP) e a equipa de apoio e desenvolvimento da FCCN. Permitem criar um fórum anual de atualização e discussão de ideias entre a FCCN e a comunidade das IES, permitindo às instituições perceber as opções estratégicas em termos de roadmap da FCCN, de forma a planear internamente as transições de cariz tecnológico e político em cada instituição.

Why are FCCN Conferences important?

Permitem às IES definir um calendário interno de implementação e alteração de processos relativos à gestão de informação científica (PTCRIS) e repositórios institucionais (rede RCAAP). São ainda relevantes como ponto de encontro anual entre toda a comunidade nacional nesta área, funcionando como fórum principal e, idealmente, único, para que se percebam as opções estratégicas da tutela nestas matérias.

What are my expectations for the 2023 edition?

The main expectations for this year are related to the definition of the implementation schedule for Dspace 7 in institutions with independent central management CRIS systems, which will result in a technological update of the interoperabilities in force with the still Dspace 5.5 version.

It will also be interesting to gather the latest developments on the Pólen project, and its alignment with the European Commission's policy, the new MCES vision, and any planned developments in the area of Scientific Information Management.
