THE PTCRIS It assists in processes related to the management of scientific information.

The FCCN Conference is approaching, and over the next few weeks, we'll be sharing testimonials from our community about the importance of this gathering. Find out what the conference participants think about this annual gathering, hosted by the FCCN Unit.

Tiago Guedes, Coordinator of the Scientific Information Management Unit at Universidade Nova de Lisboa, shares his expectations for the 2023 edition of the Conference.

What do FCCN Days mean to me?

The FCCN conferences are the annual meeting point between the teams from higher education institutions that deal with the management of scientific information and the institutional repositories of the Portuguese Open Access Scientific Repositories Network ( RCAAP ) and the FCCN support and development team. They allow for the creation of an annual forum for updating and discussing ideas between the FCCN and the HEI community, enabling institutions to understand the strategic options in terms of the FCCN roadmap, in order to internally plan technological and political transitions in each institution.

Why are FCCN Conferences important?

They allow higher education institutions to define an internal calendar for the implementation and modification of processes related to the management of scientific information ( PTCRIS ) and institutional repositories ( RCAAP network). They are also relevant as an annual meeting point for the entire national community in this area, functioning as the main and, ideally, only forum for understanding the strategic options of the supervisory authority in these matters.

What are my expectations for the 2023 edition?

The main expectations for this year are related to the definition of the implementation schedule for Dspace 7 in institutions with independent central management CRIS systems, which will result in a technological update of the interoperabilities in force with the still Dspace 5.5 version.

It will also be interesting to gather the latest developments on the Pólen project, and its alignment with the European Commission's policy, the new MCES vision, and any planned developments in the area of Scientific Information Management.
