{"id":1593,"date":"2024-04-04T15:11:16","date_gmt":"2024-04-04T15:11:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/test.ptcris.pt\/?p=1593"},"modified":"2024-11-25T10:26:49","modified_gmt":"2024-11-25T10:26:49","slug":"fundacao-para-a-ciencia-e-a-tecnologia-atribui-identificadores-unicos-para-financiamento-publico","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ptcris.pt\/en\/fundacao-para-a-ciencia-e-a-tecnologia-atribui-identificadores-unicos-para-financiamento-publico\/","title":{"rendered":"Foundation for Science and Technology assigns unique identifiers for public funding"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), through the FCCN and within the scope of the PTCRIS program, developed an initiative to register and disseminate unique identifiers (DOI \u2013 Digital Object Identifier) for national public funding.<\/p>\n<p>With the aim of encouraging the reuse and interconnection of data on allocated funding, this action is part of the SciPROJ infrastructure, the national database that aggregates records of national and international funding that supports science and technology activities developed in Portugal.<\/p>\n<p>Funding allocated by the FCT to R&amp;D Projects, R&amp;D Units, Scientific Employment and Advanced Training Grants will be covered.<\/p>\n<h2>Objectives<\/h2>\n<p>This project aims to assign unique, internationally recognized identifiers to funding managed by the FCT. This will allow for the unequivocal association of funding with the resulting scientific results, as well as with the researchers and institutions that implement that funding.<\/p>\n<p>The aim is for funding DOIs to be widely known and used by funding beneficiaries, as well as efficiently integrated into the various science management systems.<\/p>\n<p>All this to allow the potential of DOIs to be maximized and promoting transparency and open access to information about scientific activity in an agile and effective manner.<\/p>\n<h2>Phases of the initiative to date<\/h2>\n<p>Phase 0 took place during 2023 and was intended to prepare the procedures. Subsequently, in Phase 1\u2014known as the pilot project, from October to December 2023\u20146,000 FCT funding records were selected. The guiding principle behind this selection was to ensure the granting of DOIs for funding with a start date equal to or later than 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Phase 2 began in January 2024.
